It's impossible to know what Luther Burbank would think about a genetically modified version of the long, white potato he propagated in a garden in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, 140 years ago; a potato that was produced from thousands of natural crosses and years of diligent selection by two potato breeders, a chance seed ball, and a keen-eyed horticulturist.
