My mother’s favorite hand lotion was equal parts of rose water and vegetable glycerin. The mixture has to be shaken before each use.

This is soothing for dish-pan hands or chapped hands and face in winter. It leaves your skin soft and smelling pleasantly of roses. Rose water is available at many pharmacies and whole foods stores.
